This charcoal comes from South Africa and is made from the waste wood of the fast-growing and common exotic Acacia tree. Ideal for low & slow preparations in your ceramic barbecue.
Charcoal is offered in various types. A good charcoal contains a rough selection of obsolete pieces. This allows the charcoal to burn constantly and allows enough oxygen to get between the pieces, allowing all the pieces to ignite.
A good charcoal is not mixed, but consists of one type of wood. This is also important to keep the temperature constant. If you have a kamado like a Big Green Egg or a Bastard, charcoal is the perfect fuel. Charcoal is able to keep burning with very little oxygen and at the same time it is also able to get horribly hot.
Briquettes require a minimal amount of oxygen and often go out prematurely when used in a kamado.
