Texas Chuckwagon Cuisine is a little gem and offers authentic cowboy-trail-cooking for fans of the Dutch dutch oven, but also for people who want to make these traditional cowboy dishes in a modern kitchen. Author Evan Moore met chuck car legend Shedrick Hardy III at the historic 6666 Ranch more than 50 years ago and has since succeeded with real Western supplies. Over the years he has tried to recreate parts of that meal, always prepared with what he knew were the same ingredients, always with authentic cast-iron frying pans and seasoned dutch ovens.
The book shares Moore's favorite recipes for stew, chicken breast, chicken, cornmeal cookies, Texas camp bread and many others.
