Beans, Bacon and CowBoy Toasts by Grandpa Wil
Grandpa Wil - Fire & Rook
Ingredients:
- Canned Heinz Baked Beans (white beans in tomato sauce)
- Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ Sauce
- 1 uncut white bread
- 500 gr onion rings
- Coffee cup of apple juice
- 250 g cheddar
- 250 g emmental
- 2 x 50 g butter
- 200 gr bacon
- 300 gr of bacon
Necessities:
Step 1: Heat the skillet with 50 gr butter and sauté the onion rings.
Step 2: Mix 6 tablespoons of Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ Sauce with the coffee cup of apple juice and when the onion rings start to turn brown, add this to the onions. Cover with the lid of your Dutch Oven and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
Step 3: Remove the onion rings from the skillet and save them.
Step 4: Bake the bacon in the skillet, then remove the fried bacon from the skillet and save it.
Step 5: Add 50 g of butter to the fat of the bacon in the hot skillet.
Step 6: Cut thick slices of white bread of about 2 cm and brush 1 side of the sandwich with the butter / bacon fat.
Step 7: Place the sandwiches with the smeared side down in the skillet. Spoon a generous spoonful of the onion mixture, followed by a few slices of bacon and top off with a generous hand of the cheddar / emmental cheese mixture
Step 8: Go, Go, Go, Fire up the Q! Prepare your BBQ for indirect cooking (120°C)
Step 9: Sift the contents of the can of Heinz Baked Beans and collect the tomato sauce.
Step 10: Put the beans, half of the tomato sauce, the fried bacon and 8 tablespoons of Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ Sauce in your Dutch Oven and put it in the BBQ. Note: Dutch Oven without lid.
Step 11: As soon as the bean mixture starts to boil gently, place the richly filled skillet next to your Dutch Oven and cook the CowBoy Toasts and the beans for approximately 15 minutes.
